Facebook Timeline for Business Pages.

Facebook is going through some changes starting March 30 when business pages (fan pages) are going to change to the new Timeline.  Like most of you, I was concerned on how it was going to affect my business.  I finally had it the way I wanted and now, BAM, they are changing it.  I am sure most of you have questions.

I watched a webinar on the new Timeline and there are some good points and things we can do that we were not able to do before.  Your timeline picture can be 851 x 315 px. but you can not use it to promote.  What I mean is that you can not put purchases or prices on it nor can you ad an e-mail to your photo.  You can not use any promotions, get it now, tell a friend or use like or share on it. You want to make sure you expand your brand, spark curiosity, highlight your audience, spotlight your content and highlight unique features.  I recently went to the Cash Control Academy in Miami last week and am using this photo for my new timeline. How powerful is this?  Talk about leverage.  What kind of impression am I given? Instead of having landing tabs they are thumbnails for apps.  Your thumbnail pictures need to stand out.  Just like you want your images on your facebook ads to stand out, you want these as well.  You can have images, write on it and then you can put a label on them.  You can move them around so you can display the ones you want shown.  Create a reason why people should check inside the thumbnail. You want to make sure you have at least three apps (thumbnails) about the fold. As you are just starting, you can tweak your apps to find out what works and what does not.  There are no default landing tabs anymore but you can have a strong call to action.  Make sure you use a unique URL to drive traffic to it.  Supercharge your traffic with facebook ads. You can show your likes or you do not have to.  You need to ramp up your engagement.  Remember, first impressions really matter.  Make your images eye catching.  Creating videos works well and ask interesting and fun questions.  If you make a post, make sure you are around to answer questions or make comments.  Don't post and ditch.  You can create events, include links, links to other areas, and make sure you have a call to action. Your posts has a whole new look.  You may have to look around for them as they tend to get grouped with others.  Your recent posts may be in with older posts. So be careful of that.  You can highlight a post.  If you are promoting an event or a webinar, you can make it bigger than an original post.  You can also pin a post.  A highlighted post moves down the page but if you pin a post, it stays at the top.  You can not highlight or pin a post at the same time. If you pin a post it will stay at the top of the wall for seven days.  You can also target locations via your pinned posts.
