Do You Have What It Takes To Be An Entrepreneur?

Do You Have What It Takes To Be An Entrepreneur?

For Christmas one of my presents was the new Shark Tank Book, "Jump Start Your Business."  If you do not know what Shark Tank is, it is a show where entrepreneurs pitch their product or service to five wealthy Entrepreneurs who have sold their businesses for millions and billions of dollars.  There are some very creative people who go onto that show, some make a deal with the Sharks and others go home empty handed or refuse to give up shares of their business. th (2) I wanted to share a few quotes from the Sharks to see if you fit into what they consider an entrepreneur should be. Lori Grenier: "Great entrepreneus definitely have a certain nature about them.  That's been proven.  Typically they are type A; they're driven; they're risk takers.  I'm not saying you have to be that way to make it, but I certainly feel as though most entrepreneurs have a very specific type of personality." Robert Herjavec:  "The reality is that when your're starting a business, you have one master to serve-and that's your business.  There is no balance.  And you have to be honest with yourself.  If your're not prepared to make that sacrifice and commitment, don't do it." Kevin O'Leary: "When you start a business from scratch you have to go through the genesis of trials and tribulations that come with launching a new company.  Ultimately, that's what makes good entrepreneurs into great ones.  When you buy a business that's already up and running, you miss out on that opportunity." 18boss-sharktank-blog480 Mark Cuban: "You have to be willing to work hard.  There are no shortcuts to running a business.  Every business has competition and your competitors are always looking for ways to beat you to the punch.  You have to find ways to make your company stronger every day." Daymond John: "You have to know your personal mission and your mission as a company.  If you don't, you leave it up to others to interpret.  Mission was core when I started FUBU: for us, by us.  We wanted to dress the consumer that was being neglected.  It wasn't about a color; it was about a generation.  Our mission was clear." Do you know what your mission is?  Are you willing to work hard and research your competition?  Are you willing to make the sacrifices it takes to build your own business and take the bad with the good? I hope this was insightful.  Please leave a comment below and share this with someone.   To Your Success, Anita Levesque http://facebook.com/anitawaltonlevesque 207-619-0307

  1. Hi Anita,

I love watching Shark Tank, these guys are non – BS type entrepreneurs that will tell you exactly what people need to hear!

If there are people that are wanting to jump into any type of business, I would suggest that they watch this show a few times and take some notes….while I would not make my mind up on whether the idea is a good one or not based on the show…it could help!

    Thanks for sharing!

  2. My wife and I watch Shark Tank quite often, it’s a great show. Although you feel for some of the people that come on there. The ones that are so passionate about their business or product, but in reality it’s not a “great” idea. Like it breaks their heart to hear it. Gotta be tough.

I’ve been online since 1998 and while there have been up’s and down’s, I just can’t see working for some one else, it’s the main reason I started my own business.

Sadly over the years I’ve seen that while many people want the money and freedom, few actually have it in them to make it work. I use to help friends get online, but after wasting my time, again and again, and again, I don’t do it any more. Can only think of one person I’ve tried helping, that has taken action and seen some success.

Thanks for posting Anita, I’ll have to check out the book. Sure it’s a good read.

    1. You do have to be tough starting a business as you are going to get feedback you may not want to hear. I am sure they have heard negative feedback as well. I just want to meet them whether I ever have a product to ask for help or not. LOL Have a great New Years. Anita
