5 Simple Blog Traffic Tweaks You Can Make Right Now To Increase Traffic
How would you rate your blog? Is it inconsistent and incongruent? The one thing you don't want to do is have your visitors be confused of what your blog is about. Make it clear to people what you are offering and how they can get it.
First of all, take a look at your header. Does it show your brand? What is your specialty? My header says "The Social Media State Trooper: your speeding ticket to successful business marketing." I am a retired State Trooper who is building her business on line by using social media. The speeding ticket represents that people want to start making money today, not 6 months down the road. Just make sure your header is clear to what you are offer.
Some people suggest to put a video on your home page explaining what your blog is about. I do not agree with this suggestion. People are going to see what you are all about, they don't need a video to explain it. Offer a How To video on your home page to solve a problem. Place beside or just under your video, have a free offer where you will collect their name and e-mail. You want to be the go to person that people are seeking to solve their problem.
Use your navigation bar to your advantage. The titles to these pages will give a hint as to your specialties and the overall them of your blog.
Secondly, when people visit your blog and they love one of your entries, can they share it on Facebook, Twitter or Google Plus? By simply adding a plugin to your blog that lets people share your content on their social networks, you've already given visitors access to some word of mouth advertising for your content.
If you do not know how to add the social media plugins, ask for help, pay someone to do it for you, or swap service for service. DO NOT let technical challenges STOP you.
Third, the title of your blog can be search engine optimized if you include "keywords" for which you want to rank on the search engines. You can use keywords in the title of your posts as well as in the content. If you are using WordPress, you will find plugins you can install that will have you manage some Search Engine Optimization without having to be an expert. I was recently advised to use the plugin WordPress SEO by Yoast.
Fourth, schedule yourself! Keep a daily agenda in which you can include at least an hour a day for updating your blog. The more updated and consistent your content, the more relevant your blog will be.
If you are having a hard time to come up with content, write about a webinar you watched, an article that you have read or solve a problem that you prospects may be having. I think all bloggers have this issue at one time or another. I was one of them. I made it a goal this month to write consistently for 31 days. I have two more to go. I am not going to say it was easy, as blogging is not my favorite thing to do.
Finally, make it clear on your blog where people can sign up to receive e-mail updates about your new blog entries. Some options are RSS feeds or opt-in boxes. Not only are they signing up to read your content, but you're already getting some free lead generation.
I am in the process of updating my content regularly now.
Hey Michael I see your wanting to increase traffic to your blog. I'd be happy to talk with you about some ways to do it. One thing I disagree with in this article is adding a video to your blog. Adding videos to your blog is a great way to push them up in ranking and it has been proven people love to watch videos vs reading. Plus videos are much easier to rank than a blog, if done right you can get a video on page one of google in a mater of hours. Let me know if you want to talk about this and another crazy way I'm blogging to get traffic.
I think it is a matter of opinion about the video. I love doing videos and people love the ones that are solving their problems. Anita
That is the reason I did this challenge, I wanted to see if I could blog steady for a month. I do need to overhaul the looks of my blog, not real happy with it.
I like the subscibe to my newsletter button above. Guess I know my next tweak 🙂
It is a plug in I use. Thanks for the comment. Anita
