Is Going To The New Timeline Making You Crazy?
Is going to the new Timeline making you crazy? I finally have mine the way I want it and they go and change it. I am just telling myself, it could use a facelift. I am in the process of making sure all my images are the correct size and my Timeline picture fits the screen.
I read an article yesterday in Better Networker regarding mistakes people are making on their Timelines. I started researching other people's Timelines and realized that she was right, people are making mistakes that could cost them money.
The first one I saw was where you work. You need to make that a link that actually takes someone to a page, not just a generic facebook page. My profile says I work at Anita Walton Levesque. When people click on it, it takes them to my business page. This is where you want to brand yourself, not a product.
I also noticed that their thumbnails are also generic or does not contain a picture that I would want to click on. The way Facebook has designed the Timeline, it makes it harder for people to get to your landing pages. Make sure your pictures are inviting. Make them stand out so that people would be curious enough to click on them. I have placed a couple in this post for you to look at.
Your business Timeline should not contain any promotional products or your blog. Facebook can shut you down or give you a warning. Be careful as I have seen some of these up. I watched an Amy Porterfield webinar and she discussed the changes to facebook. Amy showed us her Timeline picture on her business page and she was advertising that webinar. She stated that she was pushing it and at that time of the broadcast, Facebook had not asked her to take it down.
I have also seen where their Timeline picture does not fit correctly. Some of the pictures I have seen has either had heads cut off or are blurry. I saw a business page that belongs to a well known figure whose Timeline picture has the tops of the heads cut off. If you are trying to make a good impression, make sure you have it the correct size.
You can highlight important events coming up, a product that you are promoting or some important content you are offering. Make sure you are leading with quality content. Write and they will come.
Make sure you are posting more than once a day. People get on facebook different times of the day so if you only post once then you may be missing out on some important customers. I generally post at 10 am, 1:30 pm and 6:00 pm. I admit, I forget to post sometimes as I get busy. I try to write up some posts ahead of time so I Contact can automatically post them for me. Also, try to keep your posts under 80 characters if you can. I know I can be lengthy at times but I have so much I want to say that I just keep typing.
People like consistency. Be consistent in what you do, whether it be the times that you post or the quality of your content. Rich Brooks said, "Don’t flame out like a shooting star; be as reliable as the rising sun."
