21 Tips On Writing The Perfect Post

21 Tips On Writing The Perfect Post

Today's post is about "21 Tips On Writing The Perfect Post."  I read an article that Eric Walker wrote a few months ago for The Renegade Blog and wanted to share with you his tips for creating the perfect post. Eric is a coach for Ann Sieg's Daily Marketing Coach and is in charge of their blog and social media. 1. Conceive a topic that solves the problem of your ideal customer. You always want to come up with content that will help your ideal client with solving a particular problem.  I love doing "How To" videos as it allows people to look over my shoulder to accomplish a task that they may be struggling with. 2. Uncover a keyword phrase your ideal customer is using at Google. There are many tools to look up keywords but I recommend Google's keyword tool as it is free.  You can look up keywords, phrases, cost per click bidding and how well this keyword will rank for. Google_keyword_tool-3 3. Start with an engaging, keyword rich headline. Your headline should have your best keywords in it as you want to grab your reader's attention. 4. Write an opening sentence with your keyword phrase. Search engines not only look for your keywords but how you place them throughout your article. 5. Explain the benefit to the reader in the next paragraph. You can ask a question or you could explain to your reader how this article will help them solve their problem. 6. Keep your post focused. Try to stay on task as much as possible.  The search engines like it and I am sure your readers would appreciate it. 7. Make it easy on the eyes. Break up your article, similiar to what I have done here.  Use sub-headings and bullet points. 8. Wrap it up. At this stage you can recap the article, give something away, or let them draw their own conclusions. 9. Ask for comments. At the end of all my blog posts, I ask for the share and comments.  By receiving comments, it helps with social proof. Comment 10. Find a great image to use at the top of the page. If you are like me, I am very visual.  If you have a great image, it can pull that person in to read your article. 11. Use an appropriate alt-tag for that (and every) image in your post. According to Eric, Google’s image search can drive more traffic to your site. Alt-tags are just the right thing to do." 12. Find appropriate places to link to other blog posts or pages on your website. This is an area that I need to work on, linking my article with other related articles.  I have read many blog posts over the last month and noticed many people do this.  I have to put this into my routine. 13. Find appropriate places to link to other sites. You can post to outside authoritative posts to provide value to your readers. 14. Proofread it. Don't hurt your credibiility by having too many typos.  Make sure you proofread your articles before publishing it. 16. Use your share buttons. I ask for the shares as it helps you with social proof and if someone comes to your blog and notices it has been liked or shared, they are more likely to do it. 17. Send it to your email list. This is another weakness of mine, sending my blog posts to my list.  I guess I better start a list of things I need to improve on as well. 18. Schedule some tweets (only if you use Twitter, of course) I don't tweet like many people who use twitter.  I have my Facebook page connected to Twitter so any posts I make on Facebook also goes to Twitter. 19. Publish to your Facebook profile. I never thought to do this tip either.  I do publish my posts to my Facebook Business Page but not to my Profile page. 20. Publish it to your Facebook business page. You can use Networkblog.  If you sign up, it is free, when you publish your blog post it automatically posts to your Facebook page. 21. Be consistent. Being consistent is the key to a successful business. These are the things I need to work on:  link to other blog posts articles I have written, link to other authoritative sites, use Twitter more, send posts to my e-mail list and publish my post to my Facebook Profile. What do you have to work on to get your blog posts seen? If this article was helpful, please share, like, tweet and comment. If you would like to read more of Eric's articles, click here. 1. Great post, bookmarked for later review. I need to work on keywords, and links. I do send a weekly newsletter and I’ve started adding a summary of my blogs that I think will interest them.

I’m relatively new to blogging daily, that enough to get started now I have to work all of this list.

    1. I do as well. Merle I did not even think I can do it from my own posts as I do have those share buttons there without happening to go into each account and share. The light bulb came on this morning. LOL

  2. I think if I would remember to post publicly on my personal page, that would help. I also could benefit from installing share buttons to make it easier for people.

    1. That is one of the things I learned first about blogging, get those share buttons on there. My share buttons are set up on the side when I had my blog updated. You want people to see you and it is a great way to Brand yourself as well Joyce.

  3. Great post. There is a plug in you can use that can help with your internal link building Anita. It finds relevant keywords that you have set up for each particular post or page, then makes them into a hyperlink to your other posts, which reminds me I must go and update it. It’s called link Daemon and is easy to use.
