How Do I Drive Traffic To My Website?
When I first started my business online , I was told I needed a website. Having a website or even building one for that matter and blogging everyday was foreign to me. How was I suppose to get people to my site? I did not know anything about SEO, or what I should even blog about. I think a lot of people have these concerns and frustration.
Now that you have an idea on how to generate leads, from my previous blog post, the only thing missing now is the traffic. Your offer is not going to do you any good if no one sees it. When you drive traffic to your website, you want to make sure you have a call to action on each page of your website. These offers are usually on the sidebar, in the upper right hand corner, above the fold.
Your home page should have a call to action on it as well. Introduce yourself and your business and offer them your free give away. Your offer should be related to your brand. An example, I am a social media specialist and my free offer has to do with Facebook and how to build a business page. Many people do not know how to do this, especially new people and the baby boomers who are not familiar with the internet or social media.
Your blog should contain fresh content so you can attract a wide range of visitors through search engines, social media and other sources. You do not want your content always to be product based. Create content that solves problems or that your readers are interested in. If people end up on your blog first, your give away should be a free e-book, video, webinar or other form of educational content. Your goal is to teach.
Your call to action should be clear on what you are offering. If you are offering a free e-book, download your guide to discover how to set up your blog or how to generate leads. Just because you have a big button that says download now, does not tell me anything. They need to know, what is in it for me.
Use an image with your offer. It tends to grab the attention of your reader. I hire Fiverr.com to make my graphics for my videos and e-books. They do a really great job and it only cost $5.00.
You don't want your call to action to blend in with the color of your website. Use bright colors to separate it from your other text. You want people to see it as soon as they land on your page. Make it stand out.
Make sure your links go to where they are suppose to. This happens more thanyou think. After you have set up your autoresponder, check it to make sure people are being taken to your landing page, blog post, or product.
If you blog, you can put a call to action at the end of your blog post. Make sure this offer is relevant to what you had just blogged about. The other day I blogged about the 4 P's on content writing and had a call to action to a copywriting course. This is an affiliate product which went hand in hand with my post.
After people have given you their name and e-mail, make sure you create a thank you page. You want to keep your leads engaged in the process of the buying cycle. Provide a link to a blog post, subscribe to your newsletter or have them follow you on Twitter or Facebook. You are building a relationship with these people so start it in your thank you page.
Each phase of your e-mail campaign, should include an offer. Maybe not every e-mail, but every other one. Tell them a story, on how you got started and the struggles you went through. As they start trusting you, you can offer them other products or services that will help them with their business. You will eventually lead them to a paid product.
Keep these e-mails short and to the point. Make sure your are leading with great content and use each e-mail as a teaching tool.
This process is a great way to attract prospects to you. Be the authority on your topic and watch the people come to you. They will look to you as a leader and that is what attraction marketing is all about.

Very good pointers for folks who might be just starting their website or finally deciding to give it proper attention. I started my online career in journalism, so I have always looked at it from a unique perspective. But I have been in marketing from a little more than a year now, so the things you are discussing are becoming more familiar to me.
Thanks for your comment Scott. I try to give good content and pointers as there are so many people out there struggling with their business. If you need assistance, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
Really really great tips Anita – just the bit about making the offers stand out with different colours is worth noting and something that people simply don’t consider but small things can make a big difference.
