Are You Generating Leads For Your Business?

Generating leads for your business has become an issue for many online entrepreneurs, especially the newbies.  People have different views on how to generate leads for their business, and there are a variety of ways to do this.  You are going to have to find what best fits you and become good at it. A lead is someone who gives you their name and e-mail in exchange for a free product.  Your free product can be an e-book, video, training series, newsletter and so on.  My specialty is Social Media and I try to keep my offers relating to this topic.  Remember, just because they gave you their information, does not always make them a good lead.   I had leads that got the free video then unsubscribed soon after.  You will get opt ins with a phony e-mail address.  I had someone register for a free webinar and they registered 10 different times with different e-mails. I don't understand why people do this as I have better ways to spend my time.  It is frustrating but it comes with online marketing. If you have no products to offer, then use an affiliate product to generate leads until you can make your own info products.  They usually have a free e-book or video series you can offer to generate leads and then the company will try to up sell them to a paid product.  Not only are you getting a lead, but now you  can make money from the sale of that product. Whatever you decide to offer to capture their name and e-mail, make sure you are solving a problem.  People are struggling on line and they need to know that you are going to help them.  I am offering a free video on How to Build A SEO Facebook Page.  I was surprised of the number of people who did not know how to build their business page and optimize it. Some people struggle on how much information you should obtain from a prospect.  Most people ask for a name and e-mail address. I tried asking for a mobile phone number as I also am a Mobile Marketing Expert.  My opt ins did not convert as well.  I have seen people only ask for an e-mail address and nothing else.  You may have to test this to see what works best for you. Inbound leads are the best leads to have.  Think about it, they have already visited your website or Facebook Business Page so they know what your are offering.  This is where the trust begins and you can start a relationship with these people. With cold calling, they have no clue who you are or what you are offering.  By trying to get leads this way is hard, unless you are a good salesperson.  I know people who generate all their leads this way, but  it is time consuming and this is not I want do to or have the time to do it. You need three main components to make inbound lead generation happen.
  • Landing pages
  • Offer
  • Call To Action
The primary job of a landing page is to capture information from a visitor with exchange for a free offer.  This page is to entice people with a great headline, bullet points and an opt in box.  Tell people what they are going to learn or how it will benefit their business.  Make it compelling so they will want to give you their information. The offer is the content in which people are giving their contact information for.  As I said earlier, it can be an e-book, video or training series.  This content should be solving someone's problem.  Trust me, there are a lot of people who need help with their business.  Lead generation is one of them. If you are driving traffic to a landing page, you better have a call to action.  A great landing page is useless if no one sees it.  So if you are driving traffic by using facebook ads, blog posts, or facebook posts you have to have a call to action for people to click on so they end up on your page.  Your call to action can be a button, image or a link.  You may want to experiment with these to see which ones convert better for you.
