Ten Tips You Should Do To Extend Your Facebook Reach.
When Facebook introduced EdgeRank, it seems people are having a hard time being seen in the newsfeed. Today I am going to give you ten tips on how to extend your Facebook reach.
1. Track time and frequency of your posts to find your own sweet spot. If you are not using your Insights, you are missing out. You need to see when the best time of the day people are engaging with your posts. Mine is between 9 AM and 3Pm with the highest engagement at noon.
2. Test audience targeting with individual posts (the little target symbol on the post publisher). If you were not aware of it, you can target indivduals or their Fan Page by putting an @ sign in front of the name. By doing this, their fans will see the post as well.
3. Vary your content type – photos and status updates typically get the highest reach.
Here is a study done by Hubspot regarding which posts get better engagement.
4. Include CTAs (calls to action) – social CTAs and sales/conversion CTAs. There are two types of Calls To Action.
a. Social: click, share, comment to increase engagement on Facebook
b. Calls to action to drive people off Facebook. This will help create more sales, increase opt-ins and clickthroughs.

5. Increase your response time – fans expect a response in 30 minutes yet currently the average response time is a whopping 22 hours according to SocialBakers. I check my business page constantly to make sure that I respond accordingly. I also received notifications when people are commenting on my posts which helps me respond quicker.
6. Pay for more reach with Facebook’s various ad products. During last weeks Black Friday, I had several offers that I was opening up to the public and I used paid advertising for them. If you are not getting any traffic or need more fans, paid advertising is going to be your best bet if you want to build your fan page quickly.
7. Host events such as “Live Q&A during xx times” or “Expert Friday.” I have seriously been thinking of doing a Power Hour Chat on my Business Page a couple of times a month to increase engagement. People will be able to ask different questions regarding their business and get them answered. I am really all about helping struggling entrepreneurs with their business.
8. Spotlight fans – e.g. Fan of the week, Fan Page Friday. I have not tried this yet but I am making plans to do this after the beginning of the year. People like getting credit for good deeds so if they are always commenting on your posts, why not reward them.
9. Run a contest. Give something of value but don't be giving away I-Pads, unless you can afford it, as you may get people to your page that is only interested in that I-Pad and not for the content or anything to do with your business. I ran a contest a couple of months ago and my prize was a 12 week coaching program.
10. Build a Facebook Interest List for your topic – and be sure to add your own page.

Contests are a great way to get peoples attention!
Yes they are. If you do decide, make sure you have a good 3rd part app to run them. Anita
Thanks, Anita! I got so interested checking out the details of my fan page, I forgot to make a comment! I started a fan page a couple of months ago and have been posting regularly, but really don’t know all the ins and outs of it. This is very helpful! Now if you could point toward how to go from about 300 likes to 30,000!! That would be awesome!
Amy, you will have to start running sponsored stories to increase your fan base. If you spend 15 minutes a day posting of other fan pages will help as well. Make sure you are posting as your business not in your personal personna. Anita
I need to take heed, for I could do with boosting my readership on Facebook!
If you are using social media it is good to get in front of all the traffic out there. Just be consistent and post eduational content and use Facebook ads to boost some of those posts. Have a great weekend. Anita
